"My work is informed by my time in the theatre - I love the idea of a painting suggesting a narrative and I am attracted to the theatricality of ornate costume and props. Influences come from many and varied sources, from Fairy tales to religious iconography, via historical portraiture and carnival posters. I am very interested in traditional painting oil painting techniques and try to use materials and methods that reflect this."
