Biographical Details:
Fine Arts Degree
Resident Designer, Belgrade Theatre, Coventry
Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Set up and ran Design Room at RST until 1990
Head of Art, Solihull Sixth Form College
Artist on Tour , Royal National Theatre World Tour 1990/ 91
Artist in Residence RST 1993
Painting full time 1994 onwards.
Paintings held in private collections throughout the UK and USA, Canada, Switzerland, Italy and New Zealand.
Artist's Statement:
The landscape of the west of the British Isles influences me greatly, especially Pembrokeshire, Wester Ross and the Hebrides.
I visit as often as possible and hope to settle in the north soon.
Methods of Working:
I work in oils, pastels and mixed media on primed board or 300 gm paper using a variety of techniques including
thin washes, textured surfaces, sgraffito, palette knife and house painter's brushes.
I usually work on several pieces at the same time, using sketches from the landscape and a fair amount of imagination.
I never work from photographs unless commissioned to do so.
