I began my career as a freelance artist working for various advertising agencies during the 1990s. During this time I studied ceramics part-time at Saint Martin’s College London and City Lit, London.
Having gained a variety of experience I developed my unique style. I have always had a fascination for different textures and I find that clay is the perfect medium from which I can transfer bold and intricate textual details. Indeed, whilst out walking in the beautiful Kent countryside I am surrounded by a variety of interesting natural textures such as delicate leaves and grasses, tree-bark and other natural materials. Then back in my studio I arrange the collected textures into a meadow landscape, picture or design to complement the shape of the hand-made jugs, coasters or pebbles.
